Meganesia- a Once-in-a-Lifetime Musical Extravaganza set to light up Sir Hubert Murray Stadium

PORT MORESBY – A spectacular musical event, Meganesia, is set to dazzle the nation’s capital this Saturday, June 28, at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium, as Papua New Guinea continues its official lead-up to the 50th Independence Anniversary Celebrations.

The event brings together traditional and contemporary music and dance from PNG and Australia.

In Meganesia you will see PNG and Australia standing side by side, as they have for millennia. Ancient songlines will be brought to the fore, alongside the modern and urban.

Along with this, the audience will get a chance to see some of the biggest SuperStars of PNG Music perform, Sprigga Mek, Saii Kay, Tarvin Toune, Tonton Malele, Anslom, Malmeninga Kuri, Mereani Masani, Justin Wellington and more.

The event is Free for all residents of Port Moresby and the dress code is Smart Casual.

NCD Governor Hon. Powes Parkop hailed the event as a momentous occasion in the capital’s cultural calendar and extended a warm invitation to all residents of Port Moresby to attend.

“This is a wonderful initiative, bringing together Australian Indigenous and contemporary artists with PNG’s very own musical talents. Meganesia is a celebration of identity, culture, and unity – a perfect tribute as we move closer to our 50th Independence Anniversary,” Governor Parkop said.

The concert is being commissioned by the Australian High Commission and supported by the National Events, the Amazing Port Moresby team and NCDC.

This dynamic collaboration showcases the spirit of partnership and cultural exchange between Papua New Guinea and Australia.

The event also marks the culmination of the Pacific and Asia Story events that have got the city of Port Moresby buzzing over the past two months.

Meganesia will seamlessly transition into the PNG Story, a month-long series of events, beginning in July that will focus on the amazing history of our nation and its unique and diverse regions.

As we celebrate the story of our country. The theme of PNG Story is : One City, One Kantri, One Future..
