“We are Melanesia. We are family. This Summit has reminded us of the immense strength we hold when we come together as one.”

These were the sentiments of the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka  and chairman of the Melanesian Spearhead Group while officiating at the 23rd MSG Leaders’ Summit reception held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva last night.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka stated Fiji has been deeply honoured to host its fellow Melanesian leaders.

"From the vibrant shores of Suva to the halls where we deliberated key regional priorities, I hope you have felt the warmth of our people and the strength of our commitment to the MSG.

“This Summit has reinforced our shared values—sovereignty, solidarity, and sustainable development. We tackled critical issues, from regional security to economic cooperation, from climate resilience to cultural preservation. While challenges remain, what gives me hope is the clarity of our vision and the unity of our purpose."

“Let me acknowledge and thank my fellow Leaders —your leadership continues to steer our region with wisdom and courage. I also thank the MSG Secretariat for their steadfast commitment to ensuring the success of this Summit."

With the conclusion of the one day Leaders meeting, Fiji's Head of Government expressed the hope that his Melanesian counterparts will depart with the spirit of mutual respect, kinship, and the strong bonds they all share.

“Let us continue to build on the progress we’ve made here—through action, unity, and unwavering commitment.”
