Kenya Opens Borders to All African Countries Except Libya and Somalia With Visa on Arrival!

BREAKING NEWS:

Nairobi, Kenya – July 13, 2025

In a historic move aimed at strengthening African integration and regional connectivity, Kenya has officially opened its borders to all African countries, allowing visa-free entry on arrival — with the exception of Libya and Somalia.

Effective immediately, citizens from all African nations except Libya and Somalia can now obtain visas upon arrival in Kenya, removing the need to apply in advance. This policy is part of Kenya’s commitment to fostering Pan-African unity, boosting tourism, and enhancing trade across the continent.

Government sources confirmed that nationals from Libya and Somalia will still be required to secure visas prior to traveling to Kenya, citing security and diplomatic considerations.

Meanwhile, travelers from European countries will now need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before starting their journey. The ETA is an online system that must be completed in advance.

Kenya’s new visa policy is seen as a major step toward realizing the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and establishing the country as a leading gateway for intra-African mobility and cooperation.
